Design & Style
This comes in red, purple or blue and sports the colorful nova trademark with its butterfly on the front. This is easily adjusted to fit many different body sizes. We especially liked the hand grips with lockable brakes that makes it safe when sitting. They have a four-inch range of adjustment that will comfortably fit most people’s forearms giving them the best control of the .
On The Road
Upright walkers are mainly suited for indoor use. The phoenix upright walker has an advantage with its larger front wheels as described below making it capable of both indoor and even somewhat challenging outdoor use.
Maneuverability
One design feature that has an effect on a rollator’s maneuverability is the rollator’s overall footprint size. If you live in a place that has narrow doorways and narrow walkways you know what we mean. We suggest that you measure these before choosing your mobility device.
It must be said that the narrowest upright walker may not always be the best choice. There is always a trade-off between how narrow the rollator is which helps in its maneuverability and the stability of the devise itself. The talker and larger the person is, the more important this becomes.
Weight & Folded Size
The weight of the Nova Phoenix Rise Up is 20.5 pounds. for Seniors considers a to be about 15 pounds, so this did not make this criterion in our eyes.
To see our walkers, visit our comparison post. There is also a trade off with weight when it comes to stability and ease of transport. We mention this here to help you ask the right questions to determine what matters most to you for your individual needs.
After lowering the handles to the lowest position, the Nova Phoenix Rise Up can simply be folded by pulling up on the built-in handle. It can even be rolled to move the unit while in this folded position. Being a this unit folds side-to-side and has folded dimensions measuring 33″ deep x 49.25-53.25″ high x 12″ wide.
Seat
The seat measures 18 inches wide by 9 inches deep and is 21.5 inches off the floor. If you personally weigh closer to the 300-pound weight limit for the Nova Phoenix Rise Up Rollator, you may find the seat or handles a bit too narrow to make the seat useable for an extended period time.
The “sit-to-stand” handles makes it easier to stand up from the seated position. The phoenix rise up has two handles located lower on the and right where your hands are when seated. This will give you a sturdy and comfortable place to push up with your hands to help you when standing back up.
Wheels
The wheels give this upright walker stability over many different types of surfaces that you may encounter. Difficult thresholds, grassy terrain and uneven pavement are all possible while using this walker. We especially liked the larger front 10-inch wheels that are mounted on an extended forward design giving it more stability.
Brakes
The can be locked providing safety when the user is seated and helps the to be anchored in place when needed for . The brake cables are tied in front to help keep them out of the way.
Storage
Included at no additional cost is a removable front pouch with a zipper closure to keep your personal items safe and secure. The bag measures 15″ wide x 9″ deep x 10″ high. This is more than enough room to store a variety of items like your purse or wallet, keys, cell phone, and even some groceries.
Build Quality
The frame is designed so that the front wheels have an extended forward position giving the upright walker more stability when the user leans forward to use the rollator.
Also, because of how the seat is designed, there is about a 32-inch clearance between the seat, to where your step is. This enables you to have a more natural gait. This is accomplished by not hitting your knees into the seat as you walk and still keep a good center of gravity for stability as you walk within the walker.

What Could Be Improved
These are not “showstoppers”, but we found 2 items that could be improved.
- The seat: may not be the most comfortable for some larger users being only 9 inches deep. The 18-inch width is what we see on many other upright walkers, but the 9 inch depth could be a bit narrow. But to the defense of the designers of the Phoenix upright walker these users should probably be looking at a bariatric walker if they need more seat size. The NOVA Mighty Mack Rollator is a bariatric rollator and its seat is 20″ wide by 13.25″ deep.
- The cables: though tied in the front, they are still external to the unit and not embedded in the frame.
Conclusion
The contoured forearm rests take some of the pressure off of your core and legs to make your time with your upright walker much more enjoyable. With the Nova Phoenix Rise Up Rollator, you are able to maintain a forward-looking and upright posture while walking. There is no longer a need to stoop over pushing along a traditional walker. With the Nova Phoenix upright walker, you will have a renewed sense of independence and confidence.
Walking with your new Phoenix upright walker, you will notice that your stride is a bit more natural compared to most other walkers. The seat design does not get in the way of your legs as you walk. This enables you to have a more natural walking stride and gait as you use the walker. The large front 10-inch wheels enables the Nova Phoenix walker to maneuver over many different types of terrain. It easily glides over thresholds and uneven surfaces with ease.
